The Announcement Ceremony of 12 Disaster Preparedness Innovations was held in “Padma Hall” at Dhaka Club Ltd. premises by Disaster & Emergencies Preparedness Programme Innovation Lab Bangladesh (DEPP Lab BD). The Lab was officially launched in 17th October, 2017 with the objective to find innovations in Health, Built Environment, Communication and Social Enterprise. With the headline “Innovation for Safer Community” the lab started a campaign to seek innovations from the four selected areas Dhaka, Habiganj, Rangamati and Potuakhali from 25th December, 2017 to 31st January, 2018. After extensive selection processes the DEPP Lab BD had finally selected 12 innovation from 83 proposals.

Dr. Fuadul Islam from DEPP Innovation Lab Bangladesh said, Each selected innovation team/ individuals will be provided with financial support, training, and mentorship and other necessary facilities to field test their innovations from 1st May. 2018.

The ceremony was held with the presence of All 12 innovators, Ms. Bhavya Srinivasan, DEPP Innovation Operation Manager from Start Network, Chairman of Dhaka Community Hospital Trust, Mr. Dr. Quazi Quamruzzaman and Mr. MD. Golam Mostofa, Director of Project & Research Dept;  DEPP Lab BD team members, invited guests from different humanitarian sectors and friends from print and electronic media.

The DEPP Innovation Lab Bangladesh is implemented by five consortium partners- Dhaka Community Hospital Trust, Bangladesh; SEEDS Technical Services, India; Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters, Belgium; University of New South Wales, Australia and Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network.  DEPP Lab BD is a network of Global lab  funded by UK aid, and co-managed by Start Network & CDAC Network.
